The Power of Habit. It takes just 21 days to form a new habit. Simply repeat your desired behavior over and over again for three short weeks in order for the habit to take shape. In this post, we’ll review 10 powerful habits that will change your life. If you’re like me I’m sure that most of these are already a part of your daily routine. However, with a little more effort we can make most of these a definite habit in 2016.

10 Powerful Habits That Will Change Your Life

Knowing what it is that we want to get rid of is the first step to change any undesired habit. Once we have identified what we do not want we can now work to replace it with what we truly want. I now that changing too much all once is not realistic, so please don’t get stressed, instead identify a few of habits that you want to adopt. Once you’ve decided them work on the ones you’ve picked one at a time before moving on to the next. We can accomplish major things by taking baby steps.

1. Commit to Reading and Never Stop Learning

A big part of personal success lies the desire to learn something new. This desire promotes personal growth and allows up to keep our minds challenged. As they say, if you are not growing you are dying. It is a process that allows you to continuously reinvent ourselves while helping us fight boredom. We must make learning a habit. Accept the mindset of being a student of life. The discipline of self-education to get ahead in life and to learn new skills. The habit of Reading with emotion is also important – in the past listened to a lot of audio books from places like Audible. Remember that readers are leaders and there is just something that happens when you read the physical book it just does something to you. It’s important to continue to read books and magazines as it’s important to spend time in libraries and bookstores vs buying only the Kindle copy.

2. Cultivate The Attitude of Gratitude

Gratitude is a simple, yet powerful habit that has a huge impact upon our lives. It allows us to overpower the feeling of not having or being enough. As a result, gratitude helps to avoid constant frustration. Gratitude allows us to shift our focus on the gifts we have been blessed with. This shift in perspective allows us to replace dissatisfaction with gratitude and contentment. Starting the habit of gratitude helps us to discover or rediscover the beauty of life. Being grateful helps us to develop a deep appreciation of all thing even the small things in life. More importantly, gratefulness allows us to remember that we are all standing in our own Acres of Diamonds and keeps us from bouncing from one shiny object to another. We should make a habit to be grateful for what we have. We should also aim to make the habit of spending a few moments daily to express thanks for all we have. 3. Make Self-Motivation a Habit

Make it a habit to discover ways to motivate yourself day after day. Many of us wonder what the secret to motivation is. We fail to realize that there is only one secret to motivation. The secret is that only you can motivate you.

Watching motivational videos, listening to motivational speakers and reading motivational quotes may get us excited for small periods of time. However, if we desire long term motivation it has come from inside because all attainments is with-in. One must simply go within or go without.

4. Know Your Why, Have a Vision, Have a Burning Desire

Having a definite purpose, a why, a vision a true burning desire gives us a reason to get up each day. Life continuously revolves around the question whether we have a purpose or not. Without having a clear vision or a definite chief aim, we are simply just drifting through life. Our why is the guiding light and the compass that allows to refocus. Our vision is the thing that allows us to get back on track when we meet with difficulties when we are faced with opposition.

5. Meditate

Make it a habit to meditate daily. Meditation a big deal it is one of the most powerful disciplines you can possibly develop. It’s a powerful habit that can be practiced anywhere and anytime. Meditating is a simple but powerful habit that supplies immediate benefits. Meditation is known to relieve stress, improve focus and improve memory among it’s many other beneficial advantages.

6. Develop a Positive Mental Attitude

Our attitude is so very important. Having a positive mental attitude (PMA) is the one quality more associated with success and happiness than any other quality. Our attitude is an expression of our values, beliefs and expectations. It is not what we have or where we are in life that matters but just having the right mental attitude can help us to be or become what we desire to be.

7. Practice Using a Planner and Take Advantage of Using To Do Lists 

The habit of using a daily planner and or creating and using to do lists enables us to be well planned as well as be organized and is must to attain success. A day planner is an excellent took manage your time and track all that needs to be done. A to-do list is another essential tool. Between work (or homework), taking care of ourselves and our children, and other real-life obligations, achieving our goals and meeting deadlines is almost always harder than it seems. Creating an efficient to-do list is a task in itself. However, a to-do list gives us a way to organize life into manageable lists. A to-do list allows us to organize and then cross off each entry one at a time.

8. Practice the Art of Journaling

I know that we’re all busy, there is so much that needs our attention, e-mails to be read, meetings and teleconferences, and that is just the tip of the iceberg. We are all overwhelmed by our to-do lists that fill up quicker than we can cross off the most the most important tasks. We must simply make room for journaling because it provides an excellent way to recap the good stuff and the God stuff. The discipline of journaling is the number one underutilized tool and it’s also the one thing successful people do every day. A journal like a diary captures what has happened to you. Yes, yes, journaling is about capturing ideas, plans and intents and then putting them to work. The truth is that we get so many ideas in a single day, way more than we can act on in a lifetime, but just like how a dream comes and goes quickly so does our ideas. However, by practicing the art of journaling we are able to capture great ideas and act upon them later.

 

 

9. Celebrate Small Success 

Every now and then we must take time out and give ourselves credit before we charge forward. We live in a world where we’re continually multitasking, bouncing form on project onto another. We’re continually admiring and praising other people’s accomplishments and forgetting to acknowledge our own accomplishments. One of the areas that we can improve on is celebrating our small successes. The little wins so very are important and we practice the habit of giving ourselves credit. Small wins, equals massive success when compounded over time. A life worth living is a series of small wins strung together. I know that I am guilty of not taking the time to recognize my small accomplishments, let alone taking time out to celebrate them. Going forward, let’s remember to recognize and celebrate our small successes.

10. Never Give Up! 

Even when we feel like we have nothing left to give, and it seems like no matter how hard we try, we keep hitting road blocks that are keeping us back. Remember to never give up no matter how hard it may seem! You have not failed until you admit defeat. Simply remember that you have not failed until you give up. So my friend if your plan is not working the way you planned then get a new plan. You may modify it your plan if needed but you must never give up!
